Meet My Creative Muse

First, what exactly is a Creative Muse?

A Creative Muse is considered the source of one’s genius or inspiration; a power or spirit that is thought to inspire artists.

In Greek mythology, the nine daughters (goddesses) of Zeus and Mnemosyne— Calliope, Clio, Euterpe, Melpomene, Terpsichore, Erato, Polyhymnia, Urania, and Thalia were given providence over the arts and sciences and thought to favor and inspire selected humans.

The Creative Muse

Many artists in history had a muse who inspired new passion and improved their work. Like Picasso and Dora Maar— the muse and lover of Picasso.

Did you know I have a Creative Muse?

She’s nearly 3ft tall, with dark curly hair, wears ruffly sundresses, spends her days outdoors, and paints on everything.

Can you guess who my Creative Muse is?

Little Heather is my creative muse— my 4-5yr old self. She is an unstoppable force of expressive mark making. She sees the magic in the world, and pushes me to continue to stay curious, observant, and trust. She craves PLAY.

The more child-like the marks, the more I know I’m being truthful, and the more I end up loving the work.
