This painting is part of In Dialogue, a collection of large-scale works created during an intensive workshop at the Art Students League of New York. I approached the time as a self-directed residency, drawing from years of mentorship with Francine Tint and allowing the work to unfold intuitively.

This original painting is a great ode to the energy of spring’s awakening encouraging the arrival of brighter days filled with light and the courage to bloom again.

Traveling between my home studio in Tampa, Florida to NYC to create this piece, reminds me of Joan Mitchell’s, The Bridge and how she created it in her Paris studio but was homesick for NYC. How the memory of one place came through and joined in the work in a new location. Representing a feeling of space and freedom across time and place.
