This painting is part of In Dialogue, a collection of large-scale works created during an intensive workshop at the Art Students League of New York. I approached the time as a self-directed residency, drawing from years of mentorship with Francine Tint and allowing the work to unfold intuitively.

The paintings carry the presence of many spaces—the grounding stillness of my Florida studio, the fast-moving rhythm of New York City, and the quiet inner space where creation begins. Though I wasn’t consciously thinking of it while painting, the season of spring—with its quiet strength and invitation to begin again—made its way into the work.

What emerged was not planned, but deeply felt. The gesture, scale, and layering reflect a process of surrender—of trusting what’s already inside and letting it take form.
